Recently, there are some errors and misleadinginformation in a press release regarding Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd.(“Seoul Semiconductor”).
Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. (“Everlight”) hereby issues the following clarification: In 2018, Everlight filed a patent opposition with the European Patent Office (EPO) against Seoul Semiconductor’s EP2656402B1 patent (“EP402 patent”). During the review process, Seoul Semiconductor restricted the claims of the patent to maintain its validity, but significantly limited the technical applications, specifically requiring the central wavelength of the LED to be 550 nanometers. As a result, the range of products covered by the patent was substantially reduced. The EP402 patent pertains to DBR technology, which is not entirely the same as WICOP technology based on No Wire LED technology, as claimed by Seoul Semiconductor in the press release.
Everlight reiterates that the contents mentioned in the press release do not affect our company’s core processes or products. In response to such misleading information, we will continue to closely monitor market developments and remain committed to integrity and transparency, focusing on providing customers with high-quality products and services.
